Det er vist nok noget med bøger…
Librarianship – a profession? Texas State Library and Archives Commission stiller nogle nærgående spørgsmål under overskriften: How does one know he/she is a professional? .
Hvis man skulle være lidt tvivlende i forbindelse med nogle af svarene er der hjælp at hente af typen.:
“Journals that serve a broader professional audience, but are relevant to library professionals include Fortune, Working Woman, Management and Fast Company.”… “High-profile issues in today’s library field are filtering, outsourcing/privatization, free vs. fee-based services, intellectual freedom and the broadening gap between technological haves and have-nots.”…”Issues that will face library professionals in the future include: Access to vs. ownership of materials; dwindling funding for print-based materials; space and facilities use for computers; and ongoing technology training for staff.”…”Dressing for success was a catch phrase used many years ago. Today professionals assess their work environments and dress accordingly. Professionals are naturally influenced by the activities they attend; attendance of a board meeting demands more formality than a normal work day. “…”Neither salary nor size of library are indicators of success in the library profession. Standards of excellence benchmarked against others should be the ultimate measures for library professionals. Library professionals often use the satisfaction of library patrons to measure excellence. ”
Jeg kan specielt godt li’ den sidste ;-) … men der peges da bestemt også på nogle essentielle problemstillinger for “professionen”.
